Join the RPCC Board
Help shape the next chapter of a community space that serves Baltimore.
Roland Park Community Center is an independent nonprofit community center where people come together for arts and culture, education, recreation, faith and reflection, community programs, meetings, and celebrations.
We’re looking for thoughtful, engaged people who want to help strengthen RPCC and expand the ways our campus serves the community.
What does the RPCC Board do?
RPCC’s Board of Directors provides governance, financial oversight and strategic leadership for the organization through this time of growth and exploration. We are a relatively young independent community center, and many of the people with ties to the original congregation that created the center have moved on.
RPCC has a small staff, so we are looking for board members who want to participate actively, not simply attend meetings.
What are we looking for?
We welcome people with a wide range of professional backgrounds and life experiences. Right now, we are especially interested in people who can contribute experience, relationships, or energy in the following areas:
Community & Connection
Community partnerships
Communications & marketing
Native gardens & sustainability
Organizational Strength
Fundraising & development
Facilities & property management
Events management
You don’t need to live in Roland Park. Our community extends well beyond our immediate neighborhood, and we value board members who can help RPCC build connections throughout Baltimore.
You also don’t need to have prior board experience. A strong volunteer commitment is a great start, and everyone needs to start somewhere. As an established nonprofit organization with most of our operating expenses covered by program revenue, RPCC is a good fit for someone new to serving on a board of directors.
What do we ask of board members?
Board members are expected to:
attend and participate in monthly board meetings
serve on committees or projects
support RPCC events and community outreach
help build relationships and resources for the organization
make a personally meaningful annual financial contribution

Why RPCC and why now?
RPCC is already a busy community resource, serving recurring organizations and more than 100 private events each year. We’re also looking ahead – strengthening community partnerships, improving and caring for our campus, expanding awareness of RPCC, and finding new ways for this remarkable property to serve Baltimore.
Steps to become a board member.
Our bylaws require someone to attend at least three board meetings before they can officially join the board of directors. This gives us a chance to get to know each other and make sure that we’re a good fit. We understand that you’re interviewing us just as much as we’re considering you. Our board meetings are open to the public and a great way to get to know more about RPCC. Please join us.
Interested? Let’s talk.
Board service is a relationship, not a decision you make today. If RPCC sounds interesting, we’d love to continue the conversation, answer your questions, and learn more about what you’re looking for in board service.
